Background
Situated on the edge of Holy Rood Park, against a backdrop of Arthur's Seat, the project to build the new 1200 capacity Holyrood High School began in October 2007 and was completed in July 2009.

Brief
CMS were contracted by Laing O'Rourke to design, manufacture and install external and internal glazing works, consisting of; Secured by Design aluminium pivot windows, doors, curtain walling, aluminium acoustic internal screens, timber acoustic and fire rated screens.

Systems
Senior Aluminium SMR900, SPW300, SD & SFG systems & secure by design pivot windows. Hardwood beech timber screens, 'Coolite' Low 'E' glass, Pilkington 60/60 'Pyrostop', Saint Gobain 'stadip silence' .

Key Areas

• Project focal point: the 3No faceted screens1 on each floor (ranging from 8m to 20m wide) designed to follow the curve of the building.
• Main entrance screen spanning approx 10m high and incorporating 6 double door sets 2 of which are automatic, the screen also consists of a glazed roof.
• 3 dining hall screens approximately 7m wide x 6m high incorporating ladder effect blanking panels designed & manufactured in-house.
• Internal 60 minutes integrity and insulation hardwood fire rated screens to double door set surrounds and corridor walkways.
• Internal acoustic aluminium screens forming sound barriers in key areas of the school including library overlooking dining hall to achieve Rw dB rating of 55.
